Touchdowns, Home Runs and a Taco.
I may be jumping ahead of myself on starting a nationwide college football blog, but if there is one thing that I have enough right now it is Trojan news.
Seems that ND fans and UCLA fans are hitting me in the news section and on my blog as well. Strange, the UCLA fans I know in person don't hit me ha ha!
So, for the bad ND and UCLA fans or the cowardly ones, a USC entry to remind you all and the Pac-10 for that matter what is going on with the USC football program.
Never before, not 2004, not 2005, not 1978, has USC had more talent than this year. Not even Florida can touch USC's talent. You don't believe me? Get ready for an entry that will show the first phase of Pete's evil empire being constructed. Number of stars beside the name are the recruiting stars to show Pete's construction.
QBs
John David Booty ***** - The scapegoat of the offensive problems we supposedly had last year. Trojan fans including this one blamed JDB at times. Then we read the stats, 29 TDs, 9 INTs, 3,400 yards and a 62% completion percentage. All of this, in his first year with his top receiver coming into the season, missing a significant part of the season. He wasn't the problem after all.
Mark Sanchez ***** - Yeah, you will know him. Mitch Mustain has backed off his USC push, which is the same reality Arkansas faced the last two seasons when they played the Trojans. Sanchez is the future and I would not be surprised even a little bit if he doubles up on Heisman trophies. By the time he takes over, the new receivers will be in place and have experience, the running backs will have experience and 50 points per game will not be out of the question.
Aaron Corp ***** - Incoming freshman from Orange Lutheran. Aaron Corp is one of the first real two-way threats at QB that USC could put on the field in the future. We rarely have used a two way QB, but as of right now, he looks to be the starter in 2010.
RB
Chauncey Washington **** - Hard to say at this point how much Chauncey will be used this season. He will more than likely still be the back Pete turns to when he wants to grind the clock, like last year when we had put ND away before the 4th quarter started.
C.J. Gable ***** - C.J. totaled over 500 yards rushing/receiving last year as a true freshman. He has those ankle breaking moves that made some think of Reggie Bush.
Allen Bradford ***** - Allen has been mentioned as the FB of the future. Just a sophomore, he is 6-0 230 and played spot duty at both TB and FB last season. He also was a safety/linebacker in high school as well.
Emmanuel Moody **** - Moody was the most productive Trojan back last season behind Washington, with a near 6.0 ypc average. As of right now, it is up in the air about how he will be used this season, possibly being looked at as a WR of the future since he is only 200 pounds and has great hands.
Stafon Johnson ***** - The most controversial of the group. Continues to camp out in Pete's doghouse for wearing a shirt last season that said, "The Prince" calling himself the heir to Reggie Bush's spot. He was considered our best incoming freshman last year, but saw very little playing time. Who knows what he can do?
Marc Tyler ***** - Incoming freshman who made Jimmy Clausen at Oaks Christian. Tyler is the son of former UCLA star Wendell Tyler, which scores major points with the Trojan Nation. Yeah, he made Jimmy Clausen, as a junior in high school, Tyler just had 2,200 yards rushing, 500 receiving, 45 TDs. Yeah, but Jimmy Clausen and his, "Vogue" posing was the star.
Joe McKnight ***** - Way down here is supposed to be the best of the best. Joe is compared very much to Reggie Bush. Many think Joe and Marc are the next, Reggie and Lendale. Surely out of 6 guys, 5 of which are sophomores or freshman, there will be a couple of good ones.
Broderick Green **** - Another freshman who I'm not for sure we realized we have. He is just the brother of KC Chiefs player Greg Wesley and is 6-1 230 with sub-4.6 speed. Something tells me we are now the choice of Arkansas players, since Broderick is an Arkansas native.
Running back position on this entry does not include FBs, two 4 stars there and does not include the 2 spot RBs we have on roster, who have faced many injuries in their careers.
Count 'em! 7 RBs sophomore or under with an average recruiting rating of 4.7 out of 5. Now you know why very few teams have highly ranked RBs coming in.
Three more RBs who are Seniors, though none may get much playing time except Washington. And to think RB is the position that held our offense down last year. Yeah, the same offense that scored over 30 points per game was down.
