"He really likes USC," said Blake Ayles' mother, Mary. "From where we are, USC and UCLA are the schools you follow and he has followed USC," Mary said. "And he's good friends with Aaron Corp ('07 QB signee) and Mike Reardon ('07 OL signee). He's good friends with both of them and they want him to come to USC. He also likes coach Brennan Carroll (recruiting coordinator) a lot..."
Blake Ayles, the 6-foot-4, 235-pound tight end from Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, Calif., is on a trip with his father visiting the Wisconsin and Ohio State campuses, as previously reported.
"He's at Ohio State right now," said his mother, Mary. "They left to go on Saturday and his dad just called and said he just went to sleep. They'll be coming home on Friday and should arrive around 12:30 in the afternoon.
"His dad is from Wisconsin and we have relatives there," she said. "He likes the coaches and program at Ohio State. They're very successful.
"He really likes USC," she said. "From where we are, USC and UCLA are the schools you follow and he has followed USC," Mary said. "And he's good friends with Aaron Corp ('07 QB signee) and Michael Reardon ('07 OL signee). He's good friends with both of them and they want him to come to USC. He also likes coach Brennan Carroll (recruiting coordinator) a lot.
"I'd prefer he stay close to home," Mary said. "Not so much my husband, but I think he would too.
"I'm not sure when he'll decide but he has not decided in favor of anyone yet.
"He also plays defense now but they all want him as a tight end," Mary explained. "He also loves throwing the discus. His best throw is 192'. He finished first in CIF and fifth in state. I don't know if that's good enough for college.
"You need to call Blake tomorrow," she concluded.
"You need to check with him to see if what I've said is accurate," Mary threw in with a laugh!
Blake, ranked by Scout.com as the nation's No. 3 tight end, has taken his SAT - score unreported.
